Haunted houses are a family favorite during the fall. They range from the kid-friendly cartoonish houses to the "Mature Audience Only" gorefests.

The following listings are meant only to provide basic information about each haunted house or hayride. Pricing, scariness factor, directions, and hours of operation should be confirmed with each venue as they may change throughout the season.

  • A cursed area outside Richmond, based on the Brood Lake legends.
  • One outdoor trail for 2011.
  • Tickets are $10 - nightly specials, coupons, and group discount info are on the website.
  • Children under 10 years old aren't recommended.
  • Thursdays & Sundays: 7:30pm - 10:30pm, Fridays & Saturdays: 7:30pm - 11:00pm

[edit] B. Creepy Hollow Scream Park

  • Creepy Hollow Hayride is a first hand experience of the horrors of Dr. Ulysses S. Farrington's experiments.
  • Scream Forest is a terrifying walking experience only for the bravest souls.
  • Tickets for both attractions are $15 a piece. Coupons available on the website.
  • May not be suitable for children.
  • Gates open at 7pm, the first wagon leaves at 7:30. Tickets are sold until Midnight on Fridays and Saturdays and until 10pm on Thursdays and Sundays. Combo Ticket Sales (For both Creepy Hollow Hayride and Scream Forest) end 1/2 hour earlier.

  • Features Scare Zones (haunted walks and houses), Mazes, and Shows.
  • Meet & Treats for Kids, featuring the Witch's Cave, Patch the Talking Pumpkin, and a foam pit.
  • Fridays 7:00p - 12:00a (midnight), Saturdays 10:30a - 12:00a (midnight), Sundays 10:30a - 10:00p.

  • Features Booger Woods ($20), Dr. Boz's Labrynth ($8), and Portal of Fear ($6). A Scream Pass for all three is $23.
  • Open Friday - Sunday each week until November 1st, and the last Thursday in October.
  • Ticket sales are from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm.

  • Richmond's Original Ongoing, Nighttime Walking Ghost Tours!
  • Shadows of Shockoe Walking Ghost Tour departs from the Edgar Allen Poe Museum.
  • Haunted Capitol Hill Walking Ghost Tour departs from The Berekley Hotel.
  • Church Hill Chillers Walking Ghost Tour departs from The Patrick Henry Pub.
  • All tours run Thursday - Saturday evenings at 9:00 from May - October (additional 7:00 tours available on select dates in October).
  • Private tours for 6 or more available all year.
  • Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for children 12 & under (group discounts are also available for 6 or more).
  • Spirits & Spirits Haunted Pub Crawls run Wednesday evenings from 7:00-11:00 May - October. Tickets are $13. Must be 21+.

  • Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Virginia features Scare Zones (haunted houses and walks), Mazes, and Shows.
  • Fridays 10:00am - 11:00pm, Saturdays 10:00am - 11:00pm, Sundays 10:00am - 10:00pm.
  • Open the last weekend in September through October.

  • Richmond, Virginia's Scariest Ghost Tour!
  • Eerie Nights features "Ghoul Guides" dressed in period costume and special effects make-up.
  • All tours depart the 17th St. Farmers Market in historic Shockoe Bottom.
  • Tours run every weekend May-October with special tours and events held in October.
