Traffic to the Richmond Wiki slowed considerably in May (total visits down 50% from previous 31-day period) for two primary reasons:
- There was a huge lift in traffic in April related to the Monument Avenue Easter on Parade. May did not have a comparable article.
- I did not have enough time to keep adding and updating content. The relationship stems (I think) from the fact that after I make a lot of updates or other people add new articles, I share it via the @RichmondWiki twitter account and this draws in visits and blog mentions.
Here are the numbers for May:

Lewis Ginter is having a big July 4 celebration and the Garden is free that day. Would that be a good feature article that might help stats for early July? I’ll write it if you want, or you can do a round up and I’ll just write the LGBG part.
Or maybe Allison @ Richmond Bargains Blog will do a round up of free events and fireworks. What do you think?
That’s good to know and sounds like fun! I added some details and a link on the July 4th Fireworks page. Feel free to add more details to the Lewis Ginter article as well.
One of my bigger ambitions is to make it easier to submit events like this for some sort of master calendar of events, perhaps that pulls from existing feeds. There are many other community news sites and blogs that do this well (including one of my faves).
