Advertising Survey

We are thinking of creating a system on RichmondWiki whereby contributors can earn free advertising credits (i.e. impressions for banner ads or text ads) by contributing to existing articles or adding new articles.

Please take a moment to fill out the survey below. Your thoughts and input are greatly appreciated!

How it Could Work

Basically, registered RichmondWiki users could earn free advertising impressions on the wiki by editing or adding articles. Say, X free ad impressions for a regular edit and 3X impressions for adding a new article.

Contributors could upload banner creative or a text ad for their business, charity, organization, whatever, and their impressions will be put in a queue with all the others and tracked through an ad server.

Obviously, some enforcement/approval would be necessary before ads are served:

  • The edit must be “patrolled” or approved by a wiki admin.
  • The edit has to be original and substantial (we’ll have to quantify those later).
  • The ad creative must conform to pre-determined standards (G-rated, no rich media, etc).
  • The ad must be for something local to Richmond.
  • An upper limit of impressions per month per user?
  • Other measures as necessary to prevent gaming of the system.
