Promotional Ideas

I’ve been slammed with work for the past couple of weeks but I haven’t stopped thinking about ways to grow RichmondWiki.org. Just a few ideas off the top of my head that need to be thought through and evaluated:

  • A Facebook group
  • Reaching out to middle/high school teachers (preferably tech-related) to see about having their students write RW articles about their schools, favorite places to go, etc.
  • Continue creating new articles for businesses, blogs, and organizations, then contact people involved to let them know about their article. This has worked well so far, people seem to respond favorably and at least check out what is written about them.
  • Look for sites that link to other Civic Wikis and get them to link to RW
  • Continue publishing site stats on the blog (still looking for easier ways to do this)
  • Traditional and online press releases once we have enough content to make the site useful for average visitors
  • Articles for fun or interesting things to do around town. For example, “Birthday Deals” could list restaurants or bars that give free or discounted food to people on their birthday (this is Arborwiki’s most popular article). Another example could be “Free things to do” that lists events, exhibits, etc that are free to the public.

These ideas are still floating around in my head, I just have to carve out some time to make them happen. Interested in helping? Contact me or just head over to RichmondWiki and do it yourself!
