Hello Richmond Bloggers! RichmondWiki.org is a great place to add a blog profile and increase your visibility online! It’s simple and free. Follow these few steps and in no time your article will be live, complete with a link to your site and your most recent posts via RSS. For additional help, download the Wiki Editing Cheatsheet.
Step 1: Go to the RichmondWiki home page and type your blog name into the search box on the left. Click “Go“.
Step 2: If your RichmondWiki article doesn’t exist yet, you will see “No page title matches” and a red link to “create this page“. Click it.
Step 3: You will see an open text box with a few buttons across the top. You can easily add things like bold or italics text, or links. Feel free to play around with the other buttons. You can even add a Google Map if you want.
Step 4: Type a few sentences or paragraphs about your blog. Who started it, who contributes, topics covered, etc. Add as much or as little as you want. The more you add, the more likely it will encourage RichmondWiki visitors to visit your site!
Add your RSS Feed
Step 5: Type “== Latest Posts ==” (without quotes), then hit return. This will add a new section to the article where we will put in the RSS feed.
Step 6: Type “
insert your blog’s feed address here
” (again, without the quotes). This will automatically pull in your blog’s most recent posts.
Step 7: Right after your blog’s feed address, type “|max=5|short” (no quotes). This limits the display to your 5 most recent posts, and the short command tell it to only list your post titles, not the post bodies.
Example RSS Feed Code

http://feeds.feedburner.com/richmondwiki|max=5|short

Add a Link to your Blog
Step 8: Type “== External Links ==” (again, no quotes) to create another section in the article. Hit return.
Step 9: Type “[http://www.yourbloglink.com YourBlogLink.com]” (do you really have to ask?). This will create an external link to your blog with the anchor text YourBlogLink.com.
Add Your Blog to the “Blogs” Category
Step 10: To further increase the prominence of your blog article, add the following line at the very bottom of your article: “[[Category: Blogs]]”. This way people can find it on the Blog Category page.
Save It
Step 11: Click the “Save Page” button and your article is now live on RichmondWiki.org.
That’s All!
You’ve just created a RichmondWiki article for your blog! If you have questions, leave a comment here or a message on my User page by clicking the “edit” button. Or, if you prefer not to deal with the Wiki markup, simply post your basic blog info in your article and somebody (likely me) will come through to make it pretty.
