RichmondWiki is officially open to the public today. Everybody is now free to contribute content and help build out the community resource.
The idea for the RichmondWiki hit me about a year ago after seeing some other successful examples in other cities, but I only got started on it recently. A couple of months of hacking on the MediaWiki platform has resulted in what you see here. Currently there are only a couple dozen articles as I have spent most of my time creating useful Help content and a functional design. I am not a designer nor a copywriter, so I won’t be insulted if you change anything on the site. Seriously. That’s what a wiki is!
It’s not the prettiest site in town, but it will do for now. I am counting on the help and feedback of the Richmond community to determine the directions the site takes. The best part is, YOU are free to add or edit content anytime, anywhere.
I know there are a lot of smart, talented people around town. Give them a palette and stand back. I will be very interested to see where this project goes.
